1. Who this policy covers
SMSF HOME AUSTRALIA PTY LTD (ACN 701 721 977, ABN 31 701 721 977) operates SMSF Home and is the entity responsible for the personal information handled across the public website, trustee workspace, professional portal, directory and support pathways described in this policy.
2. Information SMSF Home handles
- Account, identity, contact, location and authentication records.
- Trustee, director, member and other fund-party details needed for the workflows a user chooses.
- Fund identifiers and records, including TFN information only where deliberately provided for an authorised fund purpose.
- Asset, liability, transaction, valuation, insurance, property, lending, pension, compliance and governance records.
- Documents, evidence, notes, decisions, requests, reviews and preparation records.
- Professional profile, directory, enquiry, authority and permission records.
- Limited device, session, security, error, support and product-usage information.
3. How and why information is collected
Information is collected when a person registers, creates or claims a fund workspace, enters records, uploads evidence, uses a workflow, contacts support, publishes a professional profile or manages access. An authorised trustee or professional may also supply information, and a provisional workspace may be claimed by an invited trustee.
SMSF Home uses this information to operate and secure accounts, organise the enduring fund record, run Home Helper™ workflows, apply trustee-controlled authority, support users, prevent misuse, meet legal obligations and improve the product using limited grouped or de-identified measures.
4. Sensitive identifiers and minimisation
Only provide a TFN where SMSF Home expressly asks for it and you are authorised to do so. Do not place TFNs in titles, notes or unrelated uploads. TFN information is masked in ordinary fund-profile display.
Do not store passwords, authentication or recovery codes, digital-asset seed phrases, private keys or similar credentials in SMSF Home. Avoid unnecessary personal information in free text and documents.
5. Trustee control and professional access
A professional profile, saved contact or directory enquiry does not open a fund. Access begins only through separate authority for a particular fund and is limited by the permissions recorded for that relationship.
Trustees can review, narrow, suspend, expire or revoke authority. Professional working files and the trustee's enduring Fund Record are separate unless a workflow deliberately transfers or publishes a record between them.
6. Who information may be shared with
Information may be available to an account holder, a trustee-authorised professional or fund participant, limited service providers needed to operate and support SMSF Home, advisers acting for the operator, or a government, regulator, court or other recipient where authorised or required by law.
SMSF Home does not sell personal or fund information to advertisers or data brokers. Directory information is published only when the professional chooses to participate, and it does not reveal their client funds.
7. Enquiries and direct marketing
Permission to use contact details to handle and respond to an enquiry is limited to that enquiry. It does not authorise ongoing promotional email.
A person receives SMSF Home product, launch or service marketing by email only where they make a separate optional choice or another lawful basis applies. SMSF Home records that choice and provides a clear way to unsubscribe. Withdrawing from marketing does not prevent service, security, account or requested enquiry communications.
8. Australia and overseas handling
The core fund-data environment is configured in Australia. Limited supporting processing needed for application delivery, security, communications, support, backup or operations may involve overseas recipients.
Those overseas recipients are presently likely to include recipients located in the United States. SMSF Home does not claim that every activity or copy remains exclusively in Australia.
9. Security
SMSF Home uses restricted accounts, fund-scoped authority, permissioned professional access, separate document scopes, monitoring and administrative safeguards intended to reduce unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.
No online system can guarantee absolute security. Users must protect their credentials and report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
10. Retention, account closure and deletion
Information is retained while needed to provide the service, preserve legitimate fund and authority history, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security records or establish or defend claims.
Account closure restricts ordinary access and begins the recovery and deletion process shown to the user. Eligible information is deleted after the stated recovery period, subject to legal holds and lawful retention. Trustees remain responsible for exporting and retaining SMSF records for required periods.
11. Access and correction
Users can access and correct many records directly. A person may request access to or correction of other personal information. SMSF Home may verify identity and may refuse or limit a request where permitted or required by law, giving reasons where required.
12. Privacy questions and complaints
A person may raise a privacy question, access or correction request, or complaint by emailing privacy@smsfhome.com.au. SMSF Home will investigate, may verify identity, and will respond within a reasonable period. A person may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where its complaint jurisdiction applies.
13. Policy changes
The current version and date are published here. Material changes will be brought to affected users' attention and may require a fresh in-product acknowledgement.
