Data Handling Statement

Your fund stays home. Access comes to it.

How trustee control, professional authority, Australian data handling and the trustee-to-professional handover operate without exposing technical infrastructure.

Current version: 23 August 2026

1. Your SMSF Home

The trustee workspace is the enduring operating record for the fund. Trustees control who is invited into it. A trustee does not need a professional account or professional appointment to use the full trustee system.

2. Professional access is separate

A professional cannot browse private funds, open a fund because they are listed in the directory, or gain access from an enquiry. The trustee creates a separate fund authority and chooses the relevant permissions.

Like bringing a tradesperson into a home, the trustee keeps the home and brings in the right professional for defined work. The professional receives the authorised room and records—not ownership of the house.

3. Trustee-prepared to professionally confirmed

SMSF Home helps the trustee assemble a structured dataset, evidence trail and versioned handover. That record can be marked trustee-prepared and ready for professional review.

The appointed professional then reviews the authorised scope and records the outcome appropriate to their role: an accountant's completed work, an auditor's audit outcome and contraventions, a lawyer's legal work, an adviser's advice, or another professional's defined delivery. One role does not certify every part of the fund.

4. Critical information is restricted

Critical fund information is restricted to the account holder, people expressly authorised by the trustee, and limited personnel or service providers where necessary to operate, secure, support or comply with law.

SMSF Home does not claim that information is invisible to every person in every circumstance. It uses explicit authority, fund scope, permission scope and document scope so access has a defined reason and boundary.

5. Australian data posture

The core fund-data environment is configured in Australia. Some supporting processing may occur overseas. SMSF Home will describe material handling honestly and will not publish infrastructure, vendor, database or security-design details that could weaken the service or mislead users.

6. Retention and exit

Trustees should be able to preserve the records they need and understand what happens when an account closes. Closure ends ordinary access, provides the stated recovery window and then deletes eligible information, subject to legal holds and lawful retention.

7. No absolute promise

SMSF Home applies strong access and handling controls, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Security claims are limited to controls and verified outcomes rather than promises that no incident can ever occur.
